Adding users

If you have administrator level privileges, you can add user accounts to the DS8000® storage system by using the Users page in the DS8000 Storage Management GUI.

Procedure

Complete the following steps in the DS8000 Storage Management GUI to add a user account.

  1. On the Users page, click Add User.
  2. Assign a role to limit the user's access to resources and actions on the storage system.
    For more information about the default roles, see User roles.
  3. Assign a temporary password.
    The user is required to change this password when they log in to the DS8000 Storage Management GUI for the first time.

    Passwords must meet the following criteria:

    • Must contain at least one alphanumeric character (a-z, A-Z, and 0-9), and at least one symbol from the following group: !@#$%&*().
    • Cannot contain the user name.
    • Passwords are case-sensitive.
    • Must follow the rules for password length as specified on the Local Pasword Policy tab of the Security settings page.
