Repurposing requests
A multicluster administrator, or a user with the SMC_REPURPOSE_REQUEST_MANAGEMENT permission initiates a repurposing request when there is a need to move hosts from one cluster to another when the clusters are under multicluster control.
Generally, a repurposing request requires you to specify the following
information:
- Source and target clusters of the hosts to be repurposed.
- Total number of slots to move.
- Resource plan changes for consumers in the source and target clusters.
- Selection of hosts to be repurposed, either statically from a list or dynamically by resource requirement.
Repurposing requests can be configured to be executed immediately
or at a predetermined time in the future. Requests can also be configured
to be executed on a recurring basis.
Notes:
- Multicluster does not support repurposing requests for hosts that belong to multiple resource groups.
- Multicluster does not support the movement of hosts to or from a resource group that uses a static host list as the resource selection method.
Detailed configuration for repurposing requests are provided in the Repurposing request configuration file topic.
Repurposing request properties
Repurposing request properties are details about your request as it relates to the system:- Request ID
- Unique request ID.
- State
- Repurposing request state: enabled, disabled, expired; refer to Repurposing request states.
- Recurrence Pattern
- The frequency including day and time that the repurposing request will be executed.
- Request Time
- The date and time the repurposing request was created.
- Requester
- The administrative account user who created the repurposing request.
- Last Instance Status
- The state of the last request instance: Init, Running, Error, Done; refer to Repurposing request instance states.
- Source Cluster
- The cluster from which hosts are to be moved. Details include the affected resource group, consumer, and number of hosts.
- Target Cluster
- The cluster to which hosts are to be moved. Details include the affected resource group, consumer, and number of hosts.
- Slots
- The number of capacity units (slots) to be moved.
- Description
- Optional description of the request.
