Migrating from previous releases
Migrating a Datacap environment to a new release requires that you upgrade the component software and migrate your deployed applications. Depending on the currently installed version of Datacap, upgrading the software may first require removing the previous version before installing the new release. The migration steps can include revising existing functionality, adding new features, or changing baseline user interfaces.
Upgrades from IBM® Datacap 8.0.1 and 8.1.0 to Datacap 9.0 or later are supported.
To upgrade from Datacap 8.0.1
to 9.0:
- Install Datacap 9.0 or later.
- Migrate your applications from 8.0.1 to 9.0 or later.
- Convert your customized Batch Pilot panels, if any, to Datacap Desktop panels.
- Rebuild and reinstall your customized .NET actions, if any.
To upgrade Datacap from
8.1.0 to 9.0 or later:
- Install Datacap 9.0 or later.
- You do not have to migrate your Datacap 8.1.0 applications to 9.0 or later.
- Convert your customized DotEdit and DotScan panels, if any, to Datacap Desktop panels.
- Rebuild and reinstall your customized .NET actions, if any.
To upgrade Datacap from V9.0 to V9.0.1:- Install Datacap V9.0.1.
- Migrate your Datacap V9.0 applications to V9.0.1. Database schemas must be updated.
- Rebuild and reinstall your customized Datacap Desktop panels, if any.
