Importing into an existing volume

You can import volume data from a remote server by SCP into an existing volume.

Before you begin

You must be assigned System level, Cloud group administration role with permission to View all cloud resources (Read-only permission) perform these steps.
You must be assigned one of the following permissions to import into existing volumes:
  • System level, Cloud group administration role with permission to View all cloud resources (Read-only permission)
  • Resource level administration role with Write or All access rights permission (ACL) for a specific instance

About this task

Procedure

  1. Click Cloud > Volumes.
    The list of available volumes is displayed in a table format.
  2. Click the Import icon in the Actions column for the target volume.
  3. Enter the configuration values in the fields provided:
    Remote host
    The fully qualified host name or IP address of the host system from which the volume data is imported.
    Remote port
    The port number for the specified remote host system.
    User name
    The user name with appropriate credentials to access the remote host system.

    Example: Admin, root

    Password
    The password associated with the specified user name.
    Remote path
    The fully qualified path to the exported volume on the server.
  4. Click OK to proceed or click Cancel to cancel the import request.
    If you proceed, the exported data is imported from the remote system into the target volume. While the import operation is in progress, the status of the volume changes to Pending. When the process completes, the status changes to Available.
