Making a deployed shared service available in other multi-cloud environment profiles

Deploy the shared service once in an environment profile and create references to it in other multi-cloud environment profiles.

Before you begin

You must be assigned the Workload resources administration role with Full permission or the Cloud group administration role to perform these steps.

About this task

A shared service instance deployed to a multi-cloud environment profile is available for use only by application deployments in that environment profile. Instances deployed to other multi-cloud environment profiles do not normally have access to the shared service. However, the shared service can provide services to other multi-cloud profiles by creating a reference to it in those profiles.

Procedure

  1. Click Patterns > Shared Services Instances. If you are on 2.3.3.3 or later, click Patterns > Manage > Shared Service Instances.
  2. On the left side of the window, click the shared service instance.
  3. Under Running in environment profile, click Add environment profile(s).
The window that displays shows all multi-cloud environment profiles on the system that do not have the shared service instance deployed or made available in.
  4. Select the appropriate multi-cloud environment profiles and click Add.

Ensure that the IP group routing and external network routing between the various management IP groups for the environment profiles is properly configured. For more information, see Related concepts.

To remove availability for a shared service from an environment profile, click the Delete icon beside the environment profile. Click OK to confirm the removal.
