Making add-ons read-only

Use the console to configure add-ons as read-only, which prevents users from making any further modifications to the add-on. Making add-ons read-only provides consistent reuse in the cloud.

Before you begin

You must be assigned the Create new catalog content role or the Workload resources administration role with Full permissions to complete this task.

About this task

Multisystem environment considerations
  • If you are making add-ons read only in a multisystem environment, the operation takes place only on the local system.
  • For information about the fields on the Add-Ons page, see Fields on the Add-Ons page.

Procedure

  1. Click Catalog > Add-Ons. The Add-Ons page displays the list of add-ons that are currently available. The list is displayed in a table format, providing some basic details about each add-on.
  2. Select the add-on that you want to configure to read-only status.

The add-on must be in Draft status. Add-ons that have the locked symbol next to their name in the list are already configured as read-only and cannot be modified.

  3. Click Lock in the toolbar.
  4. Click OK to confirm this setting.
When the add-on is locked, it can still be cloned or deleted, but it cannot be modified.

Results

The status of the add-on is changed to Read-only.

What to do next

You (or other users or groups with appropriate access) can associate the add-on with one or more virtual system patterns.
