Dashboard filters
About this task
Unlike chart-level filters, which apply only to a single visualization, dashboard filters provide a consistent view across multiple charts and help compare results using the same criteria. Dashboard filters are useful when you want to focus on a specific segment of data, such as decisions for a particular product, region, or execution result, without adjusting every chart individually.
A dashboard filter affects only the charts that use the same monitoring source and contain the field referenced by the filter. Charts that do not include the filtered field are not affected. Use dashboard filters to avoid repetitive configuration across multiple charts. Filters apply only to charts that use the same monitoring source and fields, and dashboard filters do not override chart-level filters; they work together to narrow results.
Procedure
- Open a dashboard.
-
In the dashboard toolbar, click the Filters icon
.
- Click Add a filter +.
- Create a filter by choosing a field and specifying one or more values.
- Apply the filter to update all compatible charts in the dashboard.
Results
Any chart that includes the same field immediately reflects the filter condition. Charts without that field remain unchanged. If a chart already has its own filter defined, both filters apply. The dashboard filter controls the overall context, and the chart filter provides additional filtering within that context. If the two filters contradict each other, the chart may show no data. Adjust the filters to refine results. Dashboard filters remain active until they are cleared. Clearing or removing a dashboard filter restores all charts to their default view.
