Using a custom color palette in charts

You can use color settings to define a custom color palette for charts.

About this task

You can customize the colors used in charts by defining a custom color palette. By default, charts use the system color palette.

You cannot use custom color palettes for the Gauge (linear), Text, and Table chart types.

Procedure

  1. Open a dashboard and create or edit a chart.
  2. Select the Visualization tab.
  3. In Color settings, enable Use custom palette.
  4. Add one or more colors to the custom palette.
    • You can define between one and fourteen colors.
    • Each color must be used only once.
  5. Added colors are appended to the end of the palette.
  6. To remove a color, hover over it and click the x icon.
  7. Save the chart and the dashboard.

Results

The custom palette is applied to the chart and is saved with it.

  • The selected colors, their order, and the toggle state are preserved when the chart or dashboard is reopened.
  • If the number of data items exceeds the number of colors, the colors repeat in sequence.
  • If Use custom palette is turned off, the chart reverts to the default color palette.
  • If you enable the custom palette again, the previously saved colors are restored.
