Creating goals

You can create a goal to define a performance objective and set the context for tracking it across charts.

About this task

Each goal includes identifying details such as a name, description, category, priority, color, and a validity period. After you create a goal, you can associate charts with it in dashboards.

Procedure

  1. Open the Goals tab.
  2. Click Create +.
  3. Enter a name for the goal.
  4. Enter an optional description. If the goal description includes HTTPS URLs, the links can be opened directly or from the tooltip, which shows the full description. A confirmation dialog appears the first time that you open a link for a domain before you navigate outside Decision Intelligence. Links from confirmed domains open without the dialog, which appears again only for links from new domains.
  5. Select a color to identify the goal.
  6. Select an optional category such as Efficiency, Quality, or Operations.
  7. Choose a priority: Low, Medium, or High.
  8. Set the start and end dates for the goal. Select fixed dates or use dynamic values such as Now or Always valid.
  9. Click Save.

Results

The goal is added to your list of goals and can be linked to charts in dashboards. Goals are visible only to the creator unless they appear in shared dashboards. A goal must be associated with at least one chart before it can appear in dashboards.
