Associating charts with goals

You can link any chart to a goal to group related insights and show how the chart contributes to a performance objective.

About this task

When a chart is linked to a goal, the chart includes a visual indicator for the associated goal. Charts that share the same goal are grouped visually. A chart can be associated with only one goal at a time, and a goal cannot be linked to charts across multiple dashboards simultaneously.

Procedure

  1. Open a dashboard and create or edit a chart.
  2. In the chart editor, open the Monitoring tab.
  3. In the Business context (optional) section, locate the Business goal field.
  4. Select the goal to associate with the chart.
  5. Click Done to save the chart.
  6. Click the Save icon Save to save the dashboard.

Results

The chart includes a visual indicator that shows the selected goal. If multiple charts in the dashboard use the same goal, those charts are grouped visually. Goals are not included in dashboard exports. When you import a dashboard, you must reassociate the charts with their relevant goals.
