Emptoris Strategic Supply Management Platform Installer

The Emptoris Strategic Supply Management Platform Installer is a .jar file that is run from the command line. You must download all required files and save them to a root installation directory on the machine.

You can run the installer from any notebook or desktop in your network that has Linux, or Windows XP SP3 (32-bit), and later. The machine must be on LAN for faster performance.

You can use a server system to run the Emptoris Strategic Supply Management Platform Installer. However, you must ensure that the port numbers are appropriately configured for the Emptoris Strategic Supply Management Platform Installer, EchOS agent, and the application.

How does the installer work

The Emptoris Strategic Supply Management Platform Installer moves the appliance template and installation packages to this repository during installation. The Emptoris Strategic Supply Management Platform installer manages space and files in the EchosRepository with the following functions:

• Merging and archiving builds that are used for base and incremental installation to the Archive folder. If the merging is unsuccessful, archiving of incremental build does not happen.
• Deleting older versions of installation packages in the target agent repository after an installation or upgrade on a target machine.
• Not archiving during an update.
• Archiving the saved configuration in the EchosRepository/ApplianceArchive folder. No configurations are saved in root directory.

Installer language

The Emptoris Strategic Supply Management Platform Installer is available only in English. The user interface (UI) is not multi-lingual and does not support any other language.

EchOSRepository

When you run the installer, the echos-installer > EchosRepository directories are automatically created on the system from which it is run. Installation artifacts are stored in this directory.

The EchosRespository directory continues to grow as newer builds are installed. Archive these builds to a separate location after installation to conserve disk space.

Backward compatibility of the installer

With version 10.0.2.4.1 of the Emptoris Strategic Supply Management Platform Installer, you can use the installer with versions 9.5 or later of the EchOS agent, and use it to install Emptoris products from version 9.5 onwards. If you already have version 9.5 or a later version of the EchOS agent installed on the target machines in your setup, you need not upgrade the EchOS agent. The EchOS agent is automatically upgraded to the appropriate version when you run the installer.

You will require latest builds of the Emptoris applications that you want to install.
