Accessing LAN Console information in IBM i Documentation

Learn how to access information about the LAN Console information for IBM® i in IBM i Documentation.

To access the LAN Console information in IBM i Documentation, complete the following steps:
  1. Go to IBM i Documentation (https://www.ibm.com/doc/en/i).
  2. Select the version of the IBM i operating system that you have.
  3. Expand Connecting to your system > IBM i Access > IBM i Access Client Solutions > Console Advanced Topics.
  4. Navigate to the information depending on the task that you want to perform. For information about the navigation path, see Table 1.

LAN Console task Menu options
To set up LAN Console Select Planning considerations for your LAN Console installation or upgrade.
(For IBM i 7.5, or later) To use service functions (65) Select Managing LAN Console > Managing your local console on a network > Using the console service functions (65).
(For IBM i 7.4, or earlier) To use service functions (65 + 21) Select Managing LAN Console > Managing your local console on a network > Using the console service functions (65 + 21).
To troubleshoot LAN Console Select Troubleshooting LAN Console connection.
To access dedicated service tools (DST) or system service tools (SST)

Select Security > Service tools > Managing service tools > Accessing service tools.
To unlock SST

Select Systems management > System values > Managing system values > Locking and unlocking security-related system values.
