Creating typical deployment manager profiles

You can create a WSRR deployment manager profile by using the Profile Management Tool. Choosing the Typical option in the Profile Management tool creates a profile with default settings.

About this task

Creating a typical deployment manager profile creates a profile with default attributes:
  • Assigns default values to ports, to the location of the profile, and to the names of the profile, node, server, host, and cell.
  • Installs the administrative console.
  • Lets you optionally enable administrative security.
  • Creates a personal security certificate for the profile. The certificate has a personal key and private key, each with a default value of WebAS (you must change this password). The expiration period is one year.
  • Creates a root signing security certificate for signing other certificates. The certificate has a personal key and private key, each with a default value of WebAS (you must change this password). The expiration period is 15 years.
  • If your operating system and the privileges of your user account permit, creates a system service to run the server.
After you create the deployment manager profile, you use the administrative console to deploy WSRR to clusters or federated servers controlled by the deployment manager. See the related link for details.

Procedure

  1. Start the Profile Management Tool.
  2. Ensure that you are on the Profile Management Tool tab, and click Create.
  3. In the Environment Selection page, select WebSphere Service Registry and Repository > Service Registry deployment manager. Click Next.
  4. In the Profile Creation Options page, select the Typical profile creation option. Click Next.
  5. In the Administrative Security page, specify whether you want to enable administrative security. If yes, specify a user name and password for logging into administrative tools. Click Next.
  6. Review the summary of profile details, and if satisfied, click Create.

What to do next

After creating the deployment manager profile, you must create profiles for your cluster members and federated servers (if these do not already exist). You then use the deployment manager administrative console to create your cluster, or federate managed nodes, and deploy WSRR to them.
