Release notes - June 2024

Application build: 2.20.20

As IBM Support Insights (IBM SI) continues to evolve, here are the details of the application's current progress.

Fixed issues and upgrades

Following is a list of improvements and new implementations in the application.

Asset filtering functionality

  • IBM SI now gives client administrators the ability to filter how users see their client's inventory.
  • Asset filters, much like global filters, are applied across the application; however, asset filters are set for the user, whereas global filters are set by the user.
  • Once created, asset filters can readily be applied to a user or a subset of users, using the User Management page, restricting their view of the in-app available inventory.
  • Existing asset filters can be modified when required or deleted when no longer necessary.

Bulk assets update

  • Using IBM SI's new functionality, available in the Inventory section's asset details table, users can now update several assets simultaneously with unique property values, including editing custom properties.
  • Using the downloadable template file, several assets can be edited in one single operation.
  • Users can assign different property values to different assets using the template; whereas the bulk edit function, available in the Inventory page's interface, assigns the same property value to all selected assets.

Hardware EoS mail alerts

  • The application's Notification subscriptions section now includes Hardware End-of-Support (EoS) mail alerts.
  • Users can select from up to 4 different hardware EoS alert levels.
  • Notification e-mails' frequency can be personalized and set to either quarterly, monthly, or weekly.

General updates

  • The application now includes EoS data for Lenovo assets.
  • The re-designed Change request e-mails now offer a better understanding of the process and its next steps.

Known issues and limitations

Following is a list of usability constraints or challenges in the current version of the application.

Area Issue Workaround
General Typing is not visualized in dropdown menus across the application. Hit the downward facing arrow on your keyboard after you have typed the initial letters of the word you're searching for.
Notification subscriptions - Hardware end of support alerts Specifically for Cisco clients - the number of assets impacted by HW EoS alerts in the notification e-mail does not match the number of actually impacted devices, which may be viewed in IBM SI. To be fixed in a future release.
Inventory management - Asset details When you try to submit a Terminate maintenance agreement change request, the date selector does not provide a calendar. Manually type in the desired date in the field, adhering to the required format, and press the Enter button on your keyboard.
Inventory management - Changes The Coverage changes tables do not get immediately updated when a global filter is applied. Go to another tab and then return - the filter will be properly visually reflected.
Risks & Recommendations - General Some OS/Firmware alerts might be missing if multiple data collection methods are used. To be fixed in a future release.
Risks & Recommendations - Security & Hardware lifecycle The asset details table filtering capability does not allow for editing filters. Remove your current filter and apply a new one.
Risks & Recommendations - Security & Hardware lifecycle Removing an applied global filter also removes any applied local filters. To be fixed in a future release.
Risks & Recommendations - Security Sorting the asset details table by the Total exposure column does not effectively sort all available assets in the desired order. To be fixed in a future release.
Risks & Recommendations - Hardware lifecycle The chart's months distribution is misaligned visually. To be fixed in a future release.
Administration - Asset filters When you try to apply multiple filtering criteria to a single asset filter - only the first selected criterion is applied. To be fixed in a future release.
Administration - Asset filters When you disable a condition from an existing filter, save your change and re-open the filter - the disabled condition is no longer present - disabling a filtering condition currently deletes the condition. To be fixed in a future release.
