Release notes - July 2023

As IBM Support Insights continues to evolve, here are the details of the application's current progress.

Fixed issues and upgrades

Following is a list of improvements and new implementations in the application.

Enhanced and improved filtering

  • The list of available global filtering data points is further expanded with the addition of City, Model, Machine type, Service level, and Warranty status.
  • All available filtering options are now sorted alphabetically across the application, providing a smoother refinement experience.

Expanded data points selection

  • The asset details table in the application's main Inventory page now contains information about the devices' operating systems. The newly introduced columns are OS name, OS version, Firmware version, OS EOS date, FW EOS date, and HW EOS date.
  • An additional column in the Inventory asset details table is available to Pro users, namely Vendor recommended OS versions.
  • The asset details table in the application's Security page, available to Pro users, offers additional operating system-related columns, namely Vendor recommended OS version 1, Vendor recommended OS version 2, and Vendor recommended OS version 3 - each providing guidance on a respective vendor-suggested OS upgrade level.

New support metrics experience

  • The application's Case metrics page now offers a consolidated view of previous metric tiers views, known formerly as Standard and Premium, providing a unified experience to all clients.

Pro clients have access to a broader data set without having to navigate to a separate page.
  • A new data point is now also added to the Case History table - Origin - displaying the means for logging the support case (e.g. web, phone call, etc.).

Firmware and coverage risks refinement

  • The Coverage risk alerts are now different for assets with an expired contract and for assets with no contract. While the impact score remains 100 for both - there is now a separate alert displayed for assets without a contract, in order to distinguish them better from those with an expired contract.
  • Firmware risk calculations have been enhanced to take into consideration the assets' firmware version relative to the minimum version and the recommended version. The risk is at its highest when the version is below the minimum.

General improvements

  • Expert Care is now part of the coverage calculations and algorithm, thus improving the entitlement, maintenance and warranty acuity.
  • Users can now see the name of the client, whose profile they are currently viewing in the application, located in the tab heading on their browser.

Known issues and limitations

Following is a list of usability constraints or challenges in the current version of the application.

Area Issue Workaround
Risks & Recommendations - General Some OS/Firmware alerts might be missing if multiple data collection methods are used. To be fixed in a future release.
Risks & Recommendations - Security & Hardware lifecycle Sorting by Vendor notice risk results in an error message. You can export the data and apply a sort in the downloaded file.
Risks & Recommendations - Security & Hardware lifecycle The asset details table filtering capability does not allow for editing filters. Remove your current filter and apply a new one.
Risks & Recommendations - Security The summary table is currently sorted by Product family. To be fixed in a future release.
Risks & Recommendations - Hardware lifecycle The chart's months distribution is misaligned visually. To be fixed in a future release.
Administration - Users Bulk users load cannot be performed with mix-case e-mail IDs. Make sure all e-mail IDs in the template are lower-case.
