Release notes

These release notes provide information about C/C++ for Open Enterprise Languages on z/OS® in IBM Z and Cloud Modernization Stack. For release notes about other products in IBM Z and Cloud Modernization Stack, see Release notes.

Beginning with the z/OS Cloud Broker 2.2 and z/OS Package Manager 2.0, a dedicated suboperator for C/C++ for Open Enterprise Languages on z/OS is no longer required to install the product on z/OS.

Use the z/OS Package Manager suboperator 2.0 to install the C/C++ for Open Enterprise Languages on z/OS OCI artifact on to z/OS.

Restricted use

C/C++ for Open Enterprise Languages on z/OS is for restricted use only. Licensee's use of the compiler is limited to installing and building native components of modules that are written with the following products:
  • IBM® Open Enterprise SDK for Go
  • IBM Open Enterprise SDK for Node.js
  • IBM Open Enterprise SDK for Python
  • IBM 64-bit SDK for z/OS, Java Technology Edition
  • IBM Semeru Runtime Certified Edition for z/OS
  • IBM Z Open Automation Utilities

Notwithstanding the above restricted use, C/C++ for Open Enterprise Languages on z/OS may be used for development of open source software for the z/OS platform to be contributed back to the open source community only.

What's new

June 2023 release

The compiler installation path is changed to /usr/lpp/IBM/zpm/oelcpp/<2.0.0.1>/bin/, which is /usr/lpp/IBM/zpm/opencpp/<2.0.0.0>/bin in the April 2023 release.
