Monitoring data stores
After you connect IBM® Guardium® Exposure Manager with cloud accounts, SaaS applications, or Microsoft™ 365 Purview, you can view the list of discovered data stores in the Data stores tab of the Inventory page.
The discovered data stores are listed in a table in the Data stores tab of the Inventory page. The table provides the following details and insights about the discovered data stores:
- Name
- Name of the data store.
- Type
- Type of data store.
- Account
- Account ID of the data store.
- Region
- Region of the data store.
- Sensitivity level
- Level of sensitivity for the data store. Levels are Undefined, Restricted, Private, Internal, and Public. Undefined is the initial state of a sensitivity level. After the sensitivity is defined, it cannot be reverted to the Undefined state.
- Data classification
- Different categories of data in the data store. Categories include Secrets, Identifiable, Personal, Financial, and Confidential. The data classification categories are derived automatically from either the native discovery and classification of IBM Guardium Exposure Manager or from Microsoft 365 Purview.
- Records
- Number of sensitive records found and classified in the files of the discovered data stores.
- Projects
- Number of projects associated with the data store. A data store can be connected to multiple projects.
- Environment
- Environment of the data store. Environments can be Staging, Development, or Production. The different environments are derived from the accounts where the data store is discovered.
- Scan status
- Scan status of the data store, which can be any of the following:
- Classified: The classification process is completed and the asset is classified.
- In progress: The classification process is in progress.
- Queued: The classification process is queued.
- Unsupported: The asset is not supported for classification. For example, the unavailability of a Unified Discovery and Classification Analyzer installation in the asset’s region.
- Unclassified: The classification process is completed and the asset is not classified.
Note: The only status of data stores discovered by Microsoft Purview is Classified.
If you select a data store listed in the table, you can find more information on the side panel that opens. On the side panel, you find more details in the following sections:
- Details
- Type, account ID, region, environment, and ID of the data store. You can click the account ID to navigate to the cloud account of the data store.
- Security
- Information about sensitivity level, encryption, and backup of the data store. You can click the Define sensitivity level icon to update the sensitivity level of the data store.
- Data classification
- A bar chart showing the total number of devices in the data store and the number of different types of resources in the data store. You can also see the scan status of the data store. You can click View resources to view the list of files in the data store along with more details about the files. You can click any file to view the sensitivity details for the file and other details such as file size and last scan date.
- Projects
- A list of projects associated with the data store. You can click a listed data store to view more details about the data store.
- Custodian
- When there is no custodian defined for the data store, you can click the Add icon to add custodian of the data store. When there is a custodian defined for the data store, you can click the Edit icon to change the custodian of the data store.
