Device parameters

The Device parameters step defines the calculated and derived parameters that Maximo® Renewables uses to evaluate plant and device performance. These parameters are based on measurements collected from source devices such as weather monitoring systems, multifunction meters, and inverters, and are computed using predefined methods.

About this task

Parameters are organized by category and device type. Some parameters are mandatory and must be configured to enable performance analysis, dashboards, and alerts. Optional parameters can be added to extend analysis or support custom reporting. Selecting appropriate source devices and computation methods ensures that calculated values accurately reflect plant behavior. Optimal parameters are derived by combining raw measurements with computation methods that align with the plant’s configuration and monitoring goals. Each parameter definition includes a unit, one or more source devices, and a computation method that describes how the value is calculated. For example, irradiance-based parameters use data from weather monitoring systems, while energy-based parameters rely on readings from multifunction meters or inverter totals. Plant-level parameters aggregate values across devices, while device-level parameters calculate metrics for individual assets. Mandatory parameters such as daily energy, POA irradiance, and performance ratio are required to ensure consistent performance calculations across projects.

Procedure

  1. In the onboarding flow, go to the Device parameters step. Select the device category for which you want to configure parameters, such as Plant, Weather monitoring system, Multifunction meter, or Inverter.
  2. Review the Required parameters section. Mandatory parameters are listed with predefined units, source devices, and computation methods.
  3. For each required parameter, verify the unit value shown in the Unit column.
  4. Review the Source device column and confirm that the appropriate device or devices are selected for the parameter.
  5. Review the Computation method column and ensure that the calculation method matches the intended logic for the parameter.
  6. If the computation method is editable, select the method and choose the appropriate option, then click Apply to save the change.
  7. Scroll to the Add optional parameters section.
  8. Click Add optional parameters to view additional parameters that can be configured.
  9. For each optional parameter you want to add, enter or verify the parameter name, unit, type, and expression, as applicable.
  10. Review the parameter details to ensure that units, source devices, and expressions align with the expected calculation.
  11. Repeat the steps for other device categories as needed.
  12. Click Next to continue to the next onboarding step after all required parameters are configured.
