Device metadata

Use the Device metadata step to add device metadata and to add or edit device parameters so that IBM® Maximo® Renewables can correctly interpret device data during onboarding.

About this task

The Device metadata step provides a device-by-device view of the assets that were added and mapped in previous onboarding steps. From this page, you can review device records by device type (for example, loggers and inverters), verify whether required metadata fields are populated, and then move into the appropriate action flow. Depending on what is missing or needs changes, you continue by selecting either Add metadata or Edit parameters.

Procedure

  1. On the Device metadata step, the device metadata has different device tabs based on that devices you have added(Logger, Weather monitoring system, Multifunction meter, Inverter, String monitoring box). The Logger tab shows a table with columns such as Name, Manufacturer, Model, Folder path, Filename pattern, Datalogging interval, Time zone, and Daylight saving available. Each logger has a 3-dot icon which hosts the action labeled Add metadata. Click on it.
  2. In the Add device metadata screen, enter the required device details. The metadata is dependent on the logger make and model that you have added in the previous step. Enter values for device name, manufacturer, model, filename pattern or filename prefix, folder path, datalogging frequency or interval, time zone, and daylight saving availability. Required fields are indicated on the screen. Review the entered values to ensure they match the logger configuration and data structure.
  3. Click Add to save the device metadata. The system saves the metadata and returns you to the Device metadata list view.
  4. Repeat these steps for any additional loggers that require metadata.
  5. Alternatively click on the download functionality to download the existing list of device metadata or the upload functionality to upload the list of device metadata and validate it before importing them.
  6. To edit the parameters:
    1. From the inverter list, click Edit parameters for the required inverter.
    2. In the Edit device parameters screen, review the list of available parameters displayed for the selected inverter.
    3. For each parameter that requires an update, enter or update the unit value to match the measurement type of the parameter.
    4. Enter or update the column index to map the parameter to the correct column in the incoming data source.
    5. Enter or update the scale value to apply the correct conversion to the incoming parameter value, if required.
    6. Click Apply to apply the changes for the edited parameter rows.
    7. Click OK to save the parameter updates and return to the Device metadata page.
    8. Repeat these steps for other inverters or devices that require parameter updates before continuing to the next onboarding step.
  7. To add parameters:
    1. From the inverter list, click Add metadata to open the Add device metadata screen for the selected inverter.
    2. In the Add device metadata screen, enter the required device details, including device name, manufacturer, model, identifier ID, AC capacity, DC capacity, and the associated logger.
    3. Click Add to save the device metadata and return to the Device metadata list.
    4. From the same inverter row, click Edit parameters to open the Add parameters view.
    5. In the parameters screen, review the list of available parameters for the inverter.
    6. For each parameter you want to add, enter the unit value that corresponds to the measurement type.
    7. Enter the column index to map the parameter to the correct column in the incoming data source.
    8. Enter the scale value to apply the correct conversion to the parameter value, if required.
    9. Click Apply to apply the parameter values you entered.
    10. Click OK to save the added parameters and return to the Device metadata page
    11. Verify that the inverter now shows populated parameter values, indicating that parameters were added successfully.
    12. Repeat these steps for other devices that require parameter configuration before continuing to the next onboarding step.
  8. Click Next to proceed to the Device Hierarchy page.
