Prerequisites for plant onboarding
Before onboarding a plant to Maximo Renewables, gather essential information about plant configuration, data connectivity, device inventory, and monitoring requirements.
Plant and project information
Gather basic details about the plant to establish context in the system:
- Plant name and project details
- Customer and ownership information
- Location and plant type (solar, wind, BESS)
- Commissioning or operational details
- Plant generation forecast
This information defines how the plant is identified and organized in Maximo Renewables.
Technical configuration details
Understand how the plant connects and sends data to the system:
- Data source type (API, FTP, or other integration)
- Connectivity details (endpoints, credentials, or access keys)
- Data frequency or ingestion setup
Without this information, the system cannot receive or process plant data.
Device and mapping details
Prepare a clear list of devices installed at the plant:
- Device types (inverters, meters, weather monitoring stations, string monitoring boxes, turbines)
- Device count and configuration
- Logger or communication-mapping details
Devices define what data is monitored and how it is grouped in the system.
Device metadata
Understand how plant data is structured:
- Metadata for devices added (for for example Identifier_id, AC, DC capacity for Inverters)
- File path and file name prefix for loggers
- Naming conventions used in data files
This information supports correct device metadata and parameter mapping, reducing configuration errors.
Device metadata
Identify and understand the key values to monitor:
- Important performance metrics (energy, irradiance, performance ratio)
- Source devices for those values
- Mandatory and optional parameters for devices
This information helps configure device parameters and alerts correctly.
This directly impacts dashboard enablement choices during onboarding.
User access and roles
Clarify who will use the system:
- List of users to be added
- Roles
- Access requirements
This ensures that the right users can access and act on data after onboarding.
