Finding and subscribing to assets

Learn how to find assets and how to receive updates about assets.

About this task

Finding assets

Find assets by using the following search techniques in the Asset Search view:
  • Basic keyword search
  • Advanced search
  • Filter search: narrows the focus of your search through filters, such as asset rating, community, category, related assets, or type.
Note: You do not have to remove filters in the same order that you applied them.
  • Tag search: tags are the terms that a user labels an asset with. In a tag search, you view a collection of tags, or tag cloud, and choose the tags that you associate with the asset that you are searching for.
  • Artifact, forum, or remote assets search.
Note: A remote asset is an asset from another product such as WebSphere® Service Registry and Repository

Subscribing to Assets

In the Web client, you can subscribe to individual assets using Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds or email subscriptions. Subscribing to assets allows you to receive email or RSS notification about assets. You can also create email or RSS subscriptions to search queries to receive notification for any asset that meets the criteria of that search. You must subscribe to each asset that you want to receive updates about.

In the Eclipse client, the easiest way to create an email subscription is to right-click an asset name and click Create a subscription.

To retrieve assets that you subscribe to, right-click the asset name in either the Asset Repositories view or the Assets view.
