Creating custom artifact elements by using SQL

Engineering Insights supports the Lifecycle Query Engine relational store. By using Lifecycle Query Engine, you can create custom artifact elements by selecting SQL as the query language.

About this task

The Lifecycle Query Engine relational store solution must be enabled. For more information, see Enabling the Lifecycle Query Engine relational store.

Procedure

  1. To create a new custom artifact element, select the values from Initial data for custom artifact element window.
  2. In the Choose query type field, select SQL. When SQL is selected, you can generate the initial query.
  3. In the Limit the scope field, select the project areas that you want to add in custom artifact element.
  4. In the Choose an artifact field, select the artifact elements.
  5. In the Set conditions field add conditions to the custom artifact elements. Click OK to create the artifact element.
  6. Optional: To browse the custom artifact elements from the main menu, go to Views > Browse custom artifact elements.
    • If both SQL and SPARQL are enabled at Lifecycle Query Engine, Browse Custom artifact elements lists all the created views and displays the query language for each view.
    • If only one query language is enabled, the view that is created by using respective query language is displayed.
