Netezza Performance Server 11.3.1.2-IF1 release notes

Deployment option: Netezza Performance Server for Cloud Pak for Data System

Note:
  • Netezza Performance Server 11.3.1.2-IF1 is compatible with Cloud Pak for Data System 1.0.8.5 and later.
  • Netezza Performance Server upgrade is recommended from Netezza Performance Server 11.2.1.13/14 and 11.3.0.2-IF1.
  • Downgrading from Netezza Performance Server version 11.3.1.2-IF1 to 11.2.1.X is not supported.
  • Kerberos authentication is currently not supported through the console.
  • HPUX and Solaris client packages are not available starting from version 11.3.0.2-IF1.
  • User table metadata must be validated and corrected as a mandatory pre-upgrade activity. For more information, see Before you begin upgrading to Netezza Performance Server 11.3.1.2-IF1 or later.
  • UDX recompilation, SQL extension, and Inza reinstallation require post-upgrade steps.

New features and enhancements

Backup and restore
  • nzrestore logging is improved to clearly reflect enableSplitDelete behavior. In addition, the numRowsPerDelete threshold is reduced from 13.4 million to 13 million rows.
Authentication and security
  • The maximum number of supported administrator privileges has been increased to accommodate future privilege additions.
Driver and connectivity
  • Enhanced OIDC authentication for ODBC clients by improving logging, removing the dependency on port 8888, and strengthening security protections against replay and CSRF attacks.

Fixed issues

Query processing and engine stability
  • Fixed an issue that could cause PostgreSQL to crash during Kerberos user authentication and when processing explain plans for UPDATE queries.
  • Resolved a rare concurrency issue affecting user table metadata.
Backup and restore
  • Fixed restore failures that was occurring due to the METHOD keyword being used in the schema.
Authentication and security
  • Fixed platform SSL certificates renewal to prevent certificate expiration-related service disruptions.
  • Fixed an issue where LDAP bind passwords containing special characters, such as $, were not handled correctly.
Console
  • Fixed console issue in the swap-space usage, restoring full resource monitoring functionality and accurate system utilisation metrics.

Known issues

  • Console Connection History—"Request Failed with status code 400"

    This is a Netezza Performance Server 11.3.x feature that requires an additional table to be created after the upgrade. To enable this feature, contact IBM Support.

  • HISTDB cleanup—"relation does not exist" error

    The following error during cleanup is expected for Netezza Performance Server 11.3.x if the required history table has not been created. To enable this, contact IBM Support.
