Netezza Performance Server supports two types of database backups.

You might choose from two backup and restore options:

On demand (ad hoc): A full backup of the existing databases on the system.
Scheduled: A configured option, which runs daily backups of all the databases on the system. A scheduled backup and restore starts with an initial full backup and follows with six subsequent incremental backups. The scheduled backup and restore option gives a complete backup set for the week.

Netezza Performance Server supports both partial and full restoration of existing backups, and backup deletion. The result of deletion is that a full backup and any incremental backups are deleted, which ensures that a full backup history can be preserved.
