Cloning an answer group

To reduce the manual time that is spent on creating answer groups, you can clone an answer group.

Before you begin

Make sure that zones and records are already created.

About this task

Cloning retains all the answers and all the metadata of the original answer group. If needed, you can change the answer and the metadata of any of the cloned answers.

Procedure

  1. Click DNS > Zones.
  2. Click the zone name that contains the record that you want to clone an answer group for.
  3. Click the name of the record that you want to clone an answer group for.
  4. Click the overflow menu of the answer group that you want to clone and select Clone answer group.
  5. Enter a name for the new answer group.
  6. Click Save answer group.
    The answer group that you cloned, including the metadata, is added to the end of the list of answer groups.
  7. Add, remove, or change the answers as needed.
    You can leave a cloned answer as a duplicate of the original, remove an answer, or change an answer as needed.
  8. To add, remove, or change the metadata of any of the answers in the group:
    1. Click the overflow menu of an answer in the group that you cloned and select Edit answer metadata.
    2. Select, remove, or change the metadata.
    3. Click OK.
  9. Click Save record.
