Editing an alert

You can edit the details of an existing alert configuration, such as the alert name or the associated notifier lists.

Before you begin

Make sure that you have the permissions and features for the type of alert that you want to edit. Refer to Create an alert for details about the permissions that you need.

About this task

In addition to changing the name and adding or removing notifier lists, you can make the following changes depending on the type of alert:

  • Edit thresholds for account usage
  • Add or remove zones for incoming zone transfers

As the settings are the same whether you edit or create an alert, you can refer to the Create an alert topic if you need more context.

Procedure

  1. Click Alerts.
  2. In the Alerts tab, locate the alert that you want to edit.
    To locate an alert, you can use the Search feature. You can also click the Open filters icon to narrow the list by the alert type or event type, by notifier list, or by the date that the alert was created.
  3. Click the Edit icon.
  4. Optional: To change the name, enter the changes in the Name field.
  5. Optional: To change the threshold for a usage item, in the usage threshold, edit the threshold.
  6. Optional: To edit an alert for an incoming zone transfer, you can either add or remove zones:

    To receive alerts about another secondary zone
    1. Click Add zone.
    2. Click the Add icon of the secondary zone that you want your stakeholders or systems to be alerted about any issues.
    3. Click Save changes.
    To stop receiving alerts about a secondary zone
    1. Click the Remove icon of the secondary zone that you no longer want your stakeholders or systems to be alerted about.
    2. In the message that opens, click Remove.
  7. Optional: To add an existing list of stakeholders or systems, under Notifier lists, do the following:
    1. Click Add list.
    2. Click the Add icon of the notifier list that contains the stakeholders or systems that you want to add.
    3. Click Add to the alert.
  8. Optional: To create a new list of stakeholders or systems, follow the instructions in the Create a notifier list topic.
  9. Optional: To remove a list of stakeholders or systems from the alert:
    1. Click the Remove icon of the notifier list that contains the stakeholders or systems.
      A message opens to let you know that the notifier list will be removed.
    2. Click Remove.
  10. Click Save changes.
