Integrated event search

Integrated event search makes it possible to perform historical event searches from within Web GUI itself, without launching out to IBM® Operations Analytics - Log Analysis.

Before you begin

The integrated event search feature between Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus and Operations Analytics - Log Analysis requires a Netcool Operations Insight license. Furthermore, the Event Search tab will only be only visible in the Event information window when the following criteria are set:
  • Install event search with IBM Operations Analytics - Log Analysis is selected and configured during Web GUI installation or upgrade.
  • The scala.integratedsearch.enabled property is set to true in the WEBGUI_HOME/etc/server.init file.
  • The Web GUI must be configured to allow right-click tools to invoke the Operations Analytics - Log Analysis server. For more information, see Configuring an SSL connection to IBM Operations Analytics - Log Analysis .

Procedure

  • Double-click on an event or right-click on the event and then click Information to display the full set of data.
  • Click Event Search.
  • Select one of the following search types for the event search:
    • Event Search for Alert Group
    • Event Search for Alert Key
    • Event Search for Identifier
    • Event Search for Node
The default is Event Search for Identifier, which searches for an event based on its Identifier. If Event Search for Alert Key is selected, the search will be for prior instances of the AlertKey of the event, regardless of which events it occurred in.
  • Select a time period that the event search will cover. The options are the previous year, month, week, day, hour, 15 minutes, or custom. The default is previous week. The custom option allows you to specify a time period in either minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, or years to be used as the date range for the event search.

Results

The event search results are displayed in a chart. The URL field is populated with the URL to run a similar query in Operations Analytics - Log Analysis. Click Go to launch the URL in a new window or tab for Operations Analytics - Log Analysis (you must sign in if SSO has not been enabled). A search is run with the same parameters as used in Web GUI. The URL can also be highlighted and copied to the clipboard by using Ctrl+C.
