Creating a watch list

Watch lists are a collection of alerts that match criteria that you or an administrator sets up. A watch list enables quick and easy visibility for a collection of alerts that you want to monitor. Move selected alerts to temporary watch lists based on one or more alert fields.

Before you begin

Edit the Event Viewer widget preferences and enable Show watch list filters. For more information, see Setting Event Viewer widget preferences.

Function delivered in wg
fp10With Fix-pack 10, the watch list displays the following default behaviors.
  • The watch list events result from data sources that are configured with the related Event Viewer. Also, when you add an event to an existing watch list the Event Viewer's data sources merge with the watch list's current set of data sources. Before Fix Pack 10 the watch list events result from the default data source.
  • The watch list selects the view that is configured with the Event Viewer. Also, when you add an event to an existing watch list the filters view is set per the Event Viewer's configured view. The filters view is replaced when you add events as filters can yield only one view attribute. Before Fix Pack 10 the watch list selects the default global view.
Watch lists that you create before you upgrade to Fix-pack 10 must be edited or re-created for these watch lists to avail of the new Fix-pack 10 behaviors.
