- Indicates that the message was issued by IMS Tools Online System Interface or IMS Tools Common Pauser.
- 01nnn
- Indicates the message identification number. IMS Tools Common Pauser uses message numbers in the range of 01000 - 01999.

- Indicates the severity of the message:
- A
- Indicates that operator intervention is required before processing can continue.
- E
- Indicates that an error occurred, which might or might not require operator intervention.

- Indicates that the message is informational only.
- W
- Indicates that the message is a warning to alert you to a possible error condition.
