Planning for secure repositories and a secure communication with the repositories

Documents and access data are not encrypted before they are transferred. They are transferred in plain text. To secure each repository and connection, you can take specific security measures.

For information about a secure setup of IBM® Content Manager, Content Manager OnDemand, FileNet® P8, or Tivoli® Storage Manager, see the appropriate product documentation.

To secure the connections, you can use one of the following measures, depending on your repository:
  • IBM Content Manager From IBM Content Manager Version 8.4.3 Fix Pack 3, use SSL for the connection to the DB2® and Oracle library server databases and use HTTPS for all requests to the resource manager databases. For more information, see the information for IBM Content Manager Version 8.4.3 Fix Pack 3.
  • FileNet P8 When you configure a Collector Server instance, specify an HTTPS connection to the Content Engine Web Service Interface (WSI) endpoint.
  • Use a virtual private network (VPN).
