Configuring for viewing documents with the OnDemand client

You might want to view your documents with the OnDemand client. If your documents have different content types, you must ensure that each content type is associated with a different Content Manager OnDemand application.

About this task

If a logical archive contains documents of only one content type and each logical archive is associated with a different Content Manager OnDemand application, your current configuration is sufficient. If a logical archive contains documents of various content types, you must use an application-mapping file to associate each content type with a different application.

Procedure

To create an application-mapping file and enable it for use with a logical archive, complete the following steps:

  1. Open a text editor.
  2. Map each content type of the documents that you want to archive, to an application:
On the left side of a mapping, specify the content type and on the right side, specify the application name.
Example of the contents of a mapping file:
    PDF application_pdf
    application/pdf application_pdf
    TXT application_txt
    text/plain application_txt
    syz 'application name with spaces'
  3. Save the attribute mapping file.
For example, save it as application_mapping.txt
  4. Change the instance configuration. In Configuration Feature, take these steps in Extended settings view:
    1. Open the instance configuration that you want to change.
    2. Go to Logical Archives > Logical Content Manager OnDemand Archive id.
    3. Complete the Documents section.
    4. Repeat steps 4.b and 4.c for each logical archive that is to use an application-mapping file.
  5. On Content Manager OnDemand, create an application group that contains the applications that you specified in the application-mapping file.

Results

When you archive a document, Collector Server checks whether, in the application-mapping file, the content type of the document is mapped to an application. If it is not mapped, the document is archived on the application that is specified in the Application field in the Logical Content Manager OnDemand Archive pane.
In the server configuration profile that you later export the instance configuration to, you find the following specification that relates to the viewing of documents with the OnDemand client:
