Searching for text within files for the Application Discovery data provider

Learn how to search for text or part of the text within files across one or more Application Discovery (AD) workspaces.

Prerequisite:

The AD data provider needs to be configured with the following properties:
ApplicationDiscoverySearch=http://my.ad.host:7800
ApplicationDiscoveryFile=http://my.ad.host:7700

To search for text within files for an AD data provider, complete the following steps:
  1. Open the browser and navigate to https://localhost:5000. The Wazi Analyze "Log in" dialog is displayed.
  2. Enter the AD username and password to log in.
  3. Select the File text search menu on the header.
  4. Set the following search options:
    • Project(s): Select one or more projects to search from.
    • Text search pattern: Enter your search text. A wildcard character * can be used in the search pattern, for example, myVar*. Optional: Select the checkbox under the text search field for search criteria.
    • File type(s) (Optional): Select one or more type of files to search in.
  5. Click the Search button to perform the search. You can view the results of the files that contain the search text within the file content in the Search results section.
