Alerts Console
Use the Alerts Console to monitor your service locations for predefined weather events and sends messages to registered users to alert them about the events.
The alert message is sent to a web service endpoint or to users' email address. Use the weather alert service to increase customer loyalty, reduce insurance claims, or to protect your employees and your assets by sending customized alerts in advance of a weather event.
Perils
Each organization has access to a default set of perils or weather events based on geography from Default perils by region. For example, if your organization is based in the United States, you have access to tornado warning, which is the ID NSW_TOR peril. Your organization can subscribe to extra perils by contacting CSM, the sales team, or the support team. For a description of each peril, see Catalog of perils - All perils.
Groups
After you register your employees or customers, you can segment them into groups based on their alerting needs. For example, you might group customers by geography, customer type, or language. You can assign a different set of perils to each group.
Alert messages
A default template is provided for alert messages. Customize the content and style of the alert
message that each group receives. Alert messages can include several substitution variables, such as
{PerilDescription}, in the body of the message. The list of substitution
variables is available by selecting . Click
to show the list that is
shown in Figure 1.

The sender email address and the unsubscribe link are configured for the organization by selecting .
Dashboard
Monitor alert activity on the alert dashboard. Use the dashboard that is shown in Figure 2 to see the total number of alert messages that are sent within a time range or by location on the map.

Using the API
You can send alerts to a URL endpoint from the Alerts Console API. Set up the URL endpoint to recognize the JSON payload with the alert information. For instructions, see the Getting Started topic in the Weather Alerts documentation on API HUb.
