Configuring trading partner names
When you modify a trading partner name, you are simply choosing to change the way a trading partner's name is displayed in InFlight. Initially, each trading partner is assigned a default trading partner ID, but you can replace this ID with a name that suits you better, like the name of a company. Replacing a default trading partner ID with a more recognizable name can make InFlight easier to use, as you can easily read each name without having to remember each trading partner's default ID.
You can modify trading partner names by going to , typing the default trading partner ID, and then specifying how you would like their name to be displayed instead.
The trading partner name is set at the company level, and when it is assigned, it is auto-assigned to, and can be used by, all businesses within a company. Different companies can assign different names to the same trading partner ID.
After it is associated with a trading partner ID, the trading partner name is associated with all transactions for that trading partner, including archived transactions. You can also search on the trading partner name, and the name appears on most reports.
