Business views

Business views determine the data that users can see. If a user has access to a particular business view, then they can see data from that business. Company administrators can control business view permissions in Setup > User access > Business views. Users can then control their active and inactive business views on the Business views tab of their Preferences page. If a business view is active, data from that business appears in a user's search results.
