Overview

EDIFACT UNB Interchange, outbound is an outgoing envelope that contains an interchange header and trailer, and all the data sent from one sender to one receiver in the same transmission. An outbound envelope is, alternatively, referred to as "To EDI" envelope.

Key identifiers

When you edit an envelope configuration, the values for some of the key identifier fields, such as the Sender ID and Receiver ID fields, cannot be edited. Editing the fields might impact the associated routing rules. However, to edit the fields, you can contact IBM Support. (0004) Sender ID
Interchange ID as it must appear on the message group header that is sent to this company or division. The valid value is 12 standard characters. Can be used as a wildcard.
(0007) Sender ID code qualifier
Coded qualifier of the sender ID as it must appear on the message group header that is sent to this company or division. The valid value is four standard characters. Can be used as a wildcard.
(0008) Interchange sender internal ID
Internal interchange ID as it must appear on the interchange header segment that is sent to this company or division. The valid value is 12 standard characters. Can be used as a wildcard.
(0042) Interchange sender internal sub-ID
Subinterchange ID as it must appear on the interchange header segment that is sent to this company or division. The valid value is 12 standard characters. Can be used as a wildcard.
(0010) Recipient ID
Interchange ID as it must appear on the message group header that is received from this company or division. The valid value is 12 standard characters. Can be used as a wildcard.
(0007) Recipient ID code qualifier
Coded qualifier of the sender ID as it must appear on the message group header that is sent to this company or division. The valid value is four standard characters. Can be used as a wildcard.
(0014) Interchange recipient internal ID
Internal interchange ID as it must appear on the interchange header segment that is received from this company or division. The valid value is 12 standard characters. Can be used as a wildcard.
(0046) Interchange recipient internal sub-ID
Subinterchange ID as it must appear on the interchange header segment that is received from this company or division. The valid value is 12 standard characters. Can be used as a wildcard.
(0001) Syntax identifier
Coded identifier of syntax rules. The valid value is four standard characters. Can be used as a wildcard.
(0002) Syntax version number
Version number of syntax rules. Typically, this value is 1. The valid value is one standard character. Can be used as a wildcard.
(0080) Service code list directory version number
Version number of the service code list directory. Can be used as a wildcard.
(0133) Character encoding, coded
Coded identifier for input characters. The valid value is four standard characters.
(0022) Recipient reference/password
Reference or password as agreed between the communicating trading partners. Can be used as a wildcard.
(0025) Recipient reference/password qualifier
Coded qualifier and password of the receiver as it must appear on the message group header that is sent to this company or division. The valid value is four standard characters. Can be used as a wildcard.
(0026) Application reference
Reference identifier of the application used by the sender. The valid value is 15 standard characters. Can be used as a wildcard.
(0029) Processing priority code
Code that is determined by the sender requesting processing priority for the interchange. Can be used as a wildcard.
(0031) Acknowledgement request
Request an acknowledgement that notifies the sender that the receiver has received an interpretable interchange transmission. Can be used as a wildcard.
(0032) Interchange agreement ID
Identification by name or code of the type of agreement under which the interchange takes place. Can be used as a wildcard.
(0035) Test indicator
The structural level in the envelope containing the test indicator is a test.
Note: When you set up your outbound processing, consider the following points.
  • If an envelope field contains a wildcard, you must supply a correlation value for it or the service halts with an error.
  • You can override wildcard values in an envelope by using the Correlation service to pass name-value pairs from the primary document to the EDI Encoder service.
  • If an envelope contains specific values in the Sender ID, Sender ID Qualifier, Receiver ID, or Receiver ID Qualifier field (that is, values other than a wildcard), the values that are passed from the Correlation service to the EDI Encoder service do not overwrite the values in the fields.
  • If you are using the same envelope for inbound processing and acknowledgments, supply the sender ID, receiver ID, and qualifiers in the envelope so that they are not overwritten by the correlation values.

Envelope options

Use global control number
  • Select Yes from the drop down for envelope to use global control numbers.
  • Select Yes and Generate to generate the name of the global control number based on the data. The Yes and Generate option uses the data to dictate which global control number to use. If you select this option, you must add a global control number and deploy it to the production environment. Only then you will be able to search for and select it in the field.
  • Select No to use local control numbers. In this case, the Start value of local control number field populates. Input an integer value in this field.
Use correlation overrides
Select Always, Default, Never, or Wildcard (*) from the drop down.
Acknowledge overdue hours
Enter the number of hours the acknowledgment is overdue after.
Acknowledge overdue minutes
Enter the number of minutes the acknowledgment is overdue after.
Specify non-standard delimiters
Select this checkbox to specify non-standard delimiters. If the checkbox is selected, there will be a specify delimiters screen where delimiters can be chosen from drop down lists.
UNA segment
Select this checkbox to UNA segments.
Stream documents
Select this checkbox to stream documents.
Encode documents
Select this checkbox to encode documents. If encode document is selected, there will be an encoding screen where the type of encoding can be chosen from a drop down list.
Use transformation extender compliance checking
Select this checkbox to enable checking for compliance by using transformation extender.
Hold locks until commit

Holding a lock until commit does not allow for any gaps in control numbers. However, selecting this checkbox slows down performance. Enable it only when you cannot have gaps in control numbers.
