Time zones
SWIFT defines a time zone for each combination of country and location code, which are part of the name of each FIN LT. As a result, each LT has a particular time zone defined by SWIFT. For certain protocol elements that are sent to the SIPN (for example, OSN ACK or PDE), SWIFT requires that the time be provided in the local time of the LT.
To satisfy this requirement, the application layer of the SFD server process (ALS) calculates, during the establishment of a GPA session, the difference between the system time and the time that the SIPN uses as local time for the LT. FTM SWIFT then applies this time difference whenever it sends to the SIPN a protocol element that requires that the time is specified using the local time for the LT.
