Using Process models and/or Service Models?
Q1 : Will this project involve using the Process models and/or Service models? Projects can use the full complement of models and indeed the full expanse of the end to end methodology – many projects choose to be selective – particularly when starting out. The following is a useful guide to choose how your project will commence.
Process Models only:
- Many teams start by choosing one or two areas of Insurance business, for example Claims, and narrow the scope of IPS modelling to the Processes that correspond to that area. [Modeling will start with Project Scoping]
Service Models only (for now at least):
- Many teams have existing services implemented in the financial institution already, and/or have expertise in that area, so start with the Service Analysis model (BOM), or with the Service Design Models [Modeling will start with Service Analysis/Service Design]
- Project Teams that want to postpone IPS service modelling to a future project may use the service models in a means described as “quickstart” – please refer to Q1b How to use existing service/data definitionsfor more detail [Modeling will start with Service Design]
Both Process and Service Models:
- Teams that are familiar with the models enough to adopt a broader methodology, may take a combined modelling approach, using the integrated set of Process and Service models in the IPS product. [Modeling will start with Project Scoping]
