Tutorial: Creating a predefined capacity report about the volumes assigned to hosts

Create, schedule, and send predefined reports about the capacity of the volumes that are assigned to hosts.

About this task

When you create reports about the capacity of volumes, you can select volumes:
  • By the storage systems that they belong to.
  • By the pools that they belong to.
  • By the hosts that they are assigned to.
  • By the applications that they are assigned to.

In this tutorial, you create a capacity report about the volumes that are assigned to the hosts in your storage environment.

Note: In the classic UI of IBM Storage Insights, when creating a capacity report for volumes, the report is limited to 64,000 entries for CSV format, and 16,250 entries for HTML and PDF formats.

Procedure

  1. Click Reports, and then click Create Report.
  2. Click the Volumes capacity report.
  3. Enter the name of the report.
  4. Select Capacity information about one or more volumes.
  5. On the Select Volumes page, select Hosts from the Volumes list.
  6. On the Select Volumes by Hosts page, you can:
    1. Choose all of the hosts.
    2. Choose one or more of the hosts.
    3. Select Name from the Filter Filter list. Then, enter a pattern that matches the names of the hosts that you want to select.
  7. Choose the columns that you want to include in the report.
You can rearrange the columns by dropping the columns where you want them to appear in the report.
  8. Add a filter and then click Apply Filter.
For example, you can create a weekly report that lists the volumes with a used capacity greater than 80%.
  9. Schedule the report.
