Forecast written capacity

About this task

Forecast capacity using the written capacity data of your storage device as per the expected growth rate and compression ratio . You can forecast the capacity for different resource types such as Storage devices, pools, tiers, STaaS environments.

Procedure

  1. From the Insights menu, click Capacity Planning. By default, Block Storage System are displayed.
  2. Click Resource type drop down list to select the storage device type.
  3. Choose one or more device or a STaaS environment and click Next.
  4. Click on selected storage systems to change the date.
  5. Enter the past and future dates in Forecasting Timeframe and click Apply.
  6. In Expected growth capacity(%) column, enter percentage value to get the forecast values of your resources.
  7. In Expected Compression Ratio, enter ratio value to get the forecast values of your resources.
  8. It generates AI powered metrics in Forecast Summary and a chart that show the predicted capacity growth in Growth Projection of the storage.
    Note: This metric informs you about the projected time of reaching your capacity limit and the forecasted surplus or deficit in capacity.
    Important: If you select multiple devices, two tabs Aggregate and BreakDown will appear. To check values of each storage device click BreakDown tab and select the device.
