Integrating with Cisco Spaces

By integrating with Cisco Spaces, you can monitor space utilization in buildings.

Before you begin

In Cisco Spaces App Center, activate the IBM® Maximo® Real Estate and Facilities application and generate the activation key. The activation key is a JSON Web Token that you generate when you activate an application. For more information about activating applications, see the Cisco Spaces online product documentation.

Ensure that buildings exist in Cisco Spaces and that your administrator authenticated locations for the activation key.

You can configure up to 10 integrations with Cisco Spaces.

Procedure

  1. On the Integrations tab, click Add integration.
  2. Select Cisco Spaces and click Next.
  3. In the Integration name field, specify a name.
  4. In the Activation code field, specify the activation key.
  5. Click Finish.
  6. In Cisco Spaces App Center, generate a location change. Generating a location change sends the initial location data to Maximo Monitor.
    1. For the IBM Maximo Real Estate and Facilities application, click the gear icon.
    2. Click Add / Edit Locations.
    3. Select the locations and then click Update Location.
  7. In Maximo Monitor, on the Integrations page, click Configure location synchronization.
  8. For buildings that you want to map to your location hierarchies, click the three-dot menu and then click Subscribe.
  9. Select the floor in your current location hierarchies to map to the building to and then click Save.
After you subscribe to a building, the data appears in Maximo Monitor after a few minutes.
  10. If the building's floor map has different starting points than the IBM Maximo Real Estate and Facilities floor map that exists in Maximo Monitor, edit the X/Y offset value. To edit the value, click the three-dot menu and then click Edit offset and measurement.

What to do next

If you unsubscribe from a building, new data for the building is not available in Maximo Monitor. The building is not deleted.

In Cisco Spaces App Center, if you clear a location's checkbox for the IBM Maximo Real Estate and Facilities application, the associated buildings are disabled in the Cisco Spaces integration in Maximo Monitor and new data for the buildings will not be sent.

To delete a building from the hierarchy, on the Hierarchies tab, click the three-dot menu for the node and then click Archive.

If you have also integrated with Cisco Webex and IBM Maximo Real Estate and Facilities Suite and added the devices that monitor the spaces to Maximo Monitor, you can configure and use the Workplace Analytics dashboard. For more information, see Workplace Analytics dashboards.
