Installing Watson OpenScale

Before you can use Watson™ OpenScale, you must prepare the cluster to work with Watson OpenScale and then install the Watson OpenScale service on the cluster.

Before you begin

Ensure that you have proper permissions on the cluster and that you have already installed IBM® Cloud Pak for Data.

Depending on your exact requirements and environment, before you install Watson OpenScale, you must also install additional resources either from IBM Cloud Pak for Data or from another vendor. The following are required to perform certain tasks: a machine learning provider to create models, a database to store training data and model details, a notebook authoring tool to create notebooks and run certain configuration processes. From the IBM Cloud Pak for Data catalog, you can deploy Watson Machine Learning to serve as the machine learning provider, Db2® to serve as the database, and Watson Studio to provide notebook authoring and model creation. You will need the preceding services to run tutorials.

To function properly, Watson Machine Learning, must be installed from the same instance of IBM Cloud Pak for Data prior to installing the Watson OpenScale service.

For Db2 options that are part of your cluster, see Services, Data Sources where you find options, such as IBM Db2 Warehouse and IBM Db2.

Procedure

  1. If you plan to use Watson Machine Learning as your machine learning provider, you must install it first.
  2. Complete the following tasks:
