Editing data records with z Systems Data Editor
The Data Editor provides editing access to sequential data sets and partitioned data set (PDS) members on the z/OS® system. To open a file in the Data Editor, select the file and click .
Overview
The Data Editor works with data sets that have a .tdat file extension. Data sets that have the .tdat extension use the Data Editor as its default editor. By default, data sets matching the pattern **.DATA have the .tdat extension appended. The .tdat can also be set manually in the z/OS File System Mappings view.
The Data Editor provides basic data editing functionally similar
to that of the IBM® File Manager
ISPF data set editor. The Data Editor includes the following features:
- Add, modify, delete data records
- Copy, cut, and past data records
- Show data in hexadecimal view
- Move window for large data
- Jump to a record line number
- Find and Replace data
