Open API for Data Protection (OADP)

An alternative to the IBM Fusion backup is Red Hat OpenShift Application Data Protection API (OADP). OADP is a Red Hat operator for backup and restore. OADP is fully supported as an add-on for IBM Z and IBM® LinuxONE.

OADP is based on the same underlying open source components as IBM Fusion backup, but is not included in the orchestration, which the Fusion Hub provides.

Just like IBM Fusion backup, the backup archive is namespaced to an application with its metadata and persistent volumes. The created archives need to be copied into a safe place, which can be accessed as S3 object storage.
