Use this checklist to identify the tasks to create or update
the FileNet® Deployment Manager definitions
for the source and destination environments.
This checklist lists tasks for the source environment.
If a task is conditional, the table also lists the conditions under
which to complete the task.
Table 1. Source
environment. This checklist lists tasks. If a task is
conditional, the table also lists the conditions under which to complete
the task.
| Step |
Perform this task if the following conditions
exist: |
| Start FileNet Deployment Manager. |
|
| Ensure that the source FileNet
P8
domain
is running. |
You intend to complete any of the following tasks:
- Test the connection to the source Content Platform Engine server.
- Extract the object store half map.
- Extract the security principal half map from the LDAP server.
- Extract the service half map
- Extract the connection point half map
|
| Create the environment definition for your source environment. See Creating or editing an
environment definition.
|
| Define and test the connection to the Content Platform Engine for your source environment. See Defining the connection
to an environment.
|
| Export the Content Platform Engine data
from the source environment. See Creating export data
set.
|
|
| Create a half map by retrieving object store information. Extract
the names and ID of each object store in the source environment to
create or update the object store half map. When you extract the names
and ID, you can also optionally retrieve the storage areas and storage
policies for each object store. See Extract an object
store half map.
|
- You are defining the source environment for your application for
the first time.
- Any of the following changes occurred in the source environment:

- An object store was deleted.
- The display name, symbolic name, or ID of an object store changed.
- A storage area or storage policy was added or modified in one
or more of the object stores
|
| Extract the user and group data from the source environment
to create or update the security principal half map. See Extract a
security principal half map.
|
The source and destination environments have different users
and groups and either of the following conditions are true:
- You are defining the source environment for your application for
the first time.
- Any of the following changes occurred in the source environment:
- You added a user or group that is referenced in the exported data.
- The name, SID, display name, or principal type of a user or group
changed.
|
| Extract the service data in the source environment to create
or update the service half map. See Extract a service half map.
|
- You are defining the source environment for your application for
the first time.
- Any of the following changes occurred in the source environment:
- A new service was created.
- A service was removed.
- The name of a service changed.

This checklist lists tasks for the destination environment.
If a task is conditional, the table also lists the conditions under
which to complete the task.

is conditional, the table also lists the conditions under which to
complete the task.
| Step |
Perform this task if the following conditions
exist: |
| Start FileNet Deployment Manager. |
|
| Ensure that the destination FileNet
P8
domain is running. |
You intend to complete any of the following tasks:

- Extract the object store half map.
- Extract the security principal half map from the LDAP server.
- Extract the connection point half map
|
| Create the environment definition for your destination environment. See Create or edit an environment
definition.
|
| Define and test the connection to the Content Platform Engine for your destination
environment. See Define
the connection to an environment.
|
|
| Create a half map by retrieving object store information. Extract
