IBM FileNet P8, Version 5.2

Start FileNet Deployment Manager

You can start the FileNet® Deployment Manager user interface from the desktop shortcut, the Start menu, the Run command, or the command line.
Notes:
  • FileNet Deployment Manager creates a log file in the directory in which the application is installed. To avoid errors, ensure that you have write access to this directory before you use FileNet Deployment Manager.

By default, FileNet Deployment Manager is installed in the following directory: C:\Program Files\IBM\FileNet\ContentEngine\tools\deploy.

  • When you start FileNet Deployment Manager, you might be prompted to create or select a deployment tree. For more information, see Create or select a deployment tree.
  • FileNet Deployment Manager does not support deployment trees that were created by using versions that are older than version 4.5.1. To work with the source and destination environments that were defined in a version that is older that version 4.5.1, you must create a deployment tree with the same environment and mapping configuration as the older version deployment tree. However, because the older versions of the half map and data map files are compatible with the current release, you can reuse them by copying them into the appropriate folders of the deployment tree.
  • FileNet Deployment Manager runs with FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) 140 ready mode enabled the first time that you start it. When you are running in this mode, the application does not save passwords to disk; it retains obfuscated passwords in memory. You can disable this mode to allow passwords to be saved to disk in encrypted format. For more information, see Set preferences.
  • You cannot use FileNet Deployment Manager to import or export metadata between different versions of Content Platform Engine.
