Installing packages with the tools repository

After you have downloaded and installed the IBM® Linux on Power tools repository, you can use it to install recommended packages for Linux™ on Power Systems™ servers.

About this task

Procedure

  1. To install service and productivity tools, enter the following command for your server type and Linux distribution:
    • Blade, HMC-managed, or IVM-managed server
      Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9
      yum install ibm-power-managed-rhel9
      Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
      yum install ibm-power-managed-rhel8
      Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7

  2. To install the IBM Advance Toolchain for Linux on Power®, enter the following command for your Linux distribution:
    • On Red Hat Enterprise Linux: yum install advance-toolchain-at6* where advance-toolchain-at6 is the version of IBM Advance Toolchain that you want to install.
    • On SUSE Linux Enterprise Server: zypper install advance-toolchain-at6* where advance-toolchain-at6 is the version of IBM Advance Toolchain that you want to install.
    • On Fedora (unsupported): yum install advance-toolchain-at6* where advance-toolchain-at6 is the version of IBM Advance Toolchain that you want to install.
  3. To install the IBM SDK for Linux on Power servers, enter the following command for your Linux distribution.
    • On Red Hat Enterprise Linux: yum install ibm-sdk-lop.ppc64
    • On SUSE Linux Enterprise Server: zypper install ibm-sdk-lop.ppc64
    • On Fedora (unsupported): yum install ibm-sdk-lop.ppc64
