Using the Idera Continuous Data Protection agent for backup and restore

If you have purchased Idera Continuous Data Protection (CDP) as part of your PureApplication® Service environment for backup and restore, you can add a script package to your virtual system pattern to install the Backup Agent on your deployed virtual machines.

Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is a high-performance agent-based backup service from Idera (formerly R1Soft) that you can use to back up workload data from your deployed virtual machines. You can select data at the directory and file level to back up and restore, and you can restore data that was backed up from one virtual machine, onto a different virtual machine (provided the Idera backup agent is installed on both virtual machines). You can use this backup option on virtual system patterns and classic virtual system patterns, on both Linux and Windows platforms.

In your PureApplication Service environment, you can add the Idera Backup and Restore script package from the catalog to your virtual system pattern or classic virtual system pattern. When you deploy your pattern, the script package performs the installation of the Idera CDP backup agent on your virtual machines, and registers the agent with the Idera Server Backup Manager.

After the Idera CDP Backup Agent is running on your deployed virtual machines, you can configure and manage your backup and restore settings by using the Idera Server Backup Manager Web interface and refer to the documentation provided with the Idera Server Backup Manager product:

Your PureApplication Service administrator can provide you with the IP address for the backup server user interface, and sign-on credentials.
