Breaking Changes

  • Log targets are no longer automatically reconfigured after a DPOD upgrade.

    Previously, after a DPOD upgrade, DPOD automatically reconfigured the Syslog log targets on the DataPower gateways to apply any configuration changes seamlessly. Starting with this release, DPOD instead detects any misconfigured log targets after the upgrade and issues an internal alert to the DPOD administrator, instructing them to set up Syslog again for the required gateways and domains.

  • Each DPOD server now listens to a single port for Syslog (60000) and a single port for HTTP (60020).

    Previously, DPOD servers usually had 4 Syslog agents and 4 WS-M agents, and listened on 4 ports for Syslog (60000-60003) and 4 ports for HTTP (60020-60023). With the restructured agents of 1.0.23.0, only one Syslog listener and one HTTP listeners consume the entire incoming traffic. During the upgrade, the gateways are automatically configured to use this single port, if they were using other ports before.

Deprecated and Removed

  • DPOD no longer requires the root user for performing administrative tasks via the server CLI (e.g.: using SSH).

    Most of the administration of DPOD should be performed with the non-administrative user that is also running the DPOD services (usually dpodsvc or storeadm), such as starting/stopping services, configuring LDAP, export/import, etc. These tasks can also be accomplished from the Admin Console.

    However, since DPOD also configures the operating system (the httpd service, OS limits, firewall rules, services in /etc/init.d, etc.), some actions require sudo, such as the installation, upgrading DPOD, backup, restore and generating a mustgather file.

  • CLI commands need to be executed with their full path.

    e.g.: Use /app/scripts/app-util.sh instead of app-util.sh.
