Getting started with RStudio Server Runtimes

With RStudio Server Runtimes, you can launch the RStudio IDE to work with R Scripts or Shiny apps. In RStudio you can perform various operations on data, such as statistical data analysis, exploratory data analysis, data visualization, data wrangling, or data cleaning. You can also create and evaluate machine learning models and develop interactive web applications (Shiny apps) based on the results of your work. Use the default RStudio environment that is included with the RStudio Server Runtimes service, or an RStudio environment that you created.

Checking whether the service is installed

An administrator must install RStudio Server Runtimes.

To check whether the service is installed:

  1. From the navigation menu, select Services > Services catalog.
  2. Search for RStudio Server Runtimes.

If the service is installed and ready to use, the tile in the catalog shows Ready to use.

Accessing the service

Cloud Pak for Data watsonx™ Depending on the other services that are installed, RStudio Server Runtimes is available from either of the IBM Cloud Pak® for Data experience or the IBM watsonx experience.

To start using RStudio Server Runtimes in your Watson Studio project, click Launch IDE, select R Studio, select one of the predefined environment templates, and then click Launch.
